What is an Apostille? An Apostille is a method of certifying a documents for use in another country pursuant to the 1961 Hague Convention.  The purpose of an Apostille is the recognition of the certified document in the country of the intended use.  The Apostille in effect certifies that the notarization of the document by a notary public or the certification by a state agency is in fact legitimate.
